Late Tipperary goal secures dramatic win in All-Ireland minor final

A large contingent of Fethard supporters travelled to Nowlan Park to support Tipperary Minor hurling team in their one-point win over Offaly in the All-Ireland final played on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

A late Tipperary goal, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, secured a dramatic win in an incredible comeback from six points down 10 minutes earlier and all while playing with a man sent off. Tipperary joined Kilkenny on top of the All-Ireland minor roll of honour after their win on a scoreline, Tipperary 1-17, to Offaly 1-16. Over 27,000 spectators attended the game.

Fethard ICA Outing to Clonakilty on Thursday next
Fethard ICA have organised an outing to Clonakilty on this coming Thursday, July 7. The Bus will leave Fethard at 8.30am and the trip will include visits to Clonakilty Black Pudding Visitor Center and the Michael Collins Center Museum. Members and non members are invited to come along.

Split The Granny Pot winner

Congratulations to Anne Darcy, winner of June's 'Split The Granny Pot' of €387. Richie Nevin drew the winning envelope in the Fethard & District Day Care Centre on Friday, July 1. A huge 'Thank You' to all who bought envelopes, our volunteer sellers, Country Markets for allowing us space every Friday and to all who support the Daycare. This support is greatly appreciated.

Parish Church Lotto Draw Results
There was no jackpot winner in this week's Parish Lotto on Thursday, June 30. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 20 and 23. The winner of the weekly draw for €30 was Una Prendergast. Next week's Jackpot for Thursday, July 7, will be €1,950.

Pony Show this Saturday, July 2
Are you ready for the annual Pony Show? We have the cups ready; we have the jumps up; we have rings ready; so come along with your pony and try and win some of these beautiful cups – we have classes for all standard of riders.

Change of location
Please note we are in a different location this year. The show is located at Grangebeg, on the Fethard-Kilsheelan road. This a very busy road so we ask you to please have some patience and obey the stewards who are there to help you. The show will start at 10am, so come along and support your local show next Saturday, July 2. 

Social Dancing at Fethard Ballroom


Fethard Ballroom continues its social dancing on Sunday, July 3, to the music of ‘The Michael Collins Band'. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a great night’s entertainment and social dancing from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. Admission is €10, which includes tea and cakes. GAA Sports Lotto Results
Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Tuesday, June 28, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 23, 24, 28 and 31. No Jackpot or no 'Match Three' winner. One Lucky Dip winner received €100: Nicky, Barrack Street, Fethard.

The next draw takes place on Tuesday, July 5, when the jackpot is €10,600. The funds raised are used to promote sport in the local community. The committee of Fethard GAA Sports Centre Development Lotto would like to thank all our supporters near and far who participate in our weekly lotto draw.

Community Games U10 GAA

Sports Achievement Nominations for June Award
The following six nominations were received for the Butlers Bar Fethard Sports Achievement Award for June:

1. Jake Coen – Continues to impress as a top class flat jockey with 2 doubles in the past week as well as several other winners in June. His doubles were in Ballinrobe and Sligo.
2. Amy Jo Hayes – Another young jockey beginning to impress. She recently lost her ten pound claim following her third winner on a mare called Five Zeros for trainer Nigel Slevin.
3. David and Margaret Flanagan – Greyhound trainers and owners of Sunset Kennels who trained 6 winners last week in Kilkenny, Clonmel and Thurles.
4. Pa Coffey – Young Fethard sportsman whos soccer exploits have not gone unnoticed. He plays for T.S.D.L. under 12 and has scored goals against the North Tipp league and Limerick.
5. Faye Lavin & Torrie Doyle – Both of these U14 St. Ritas camogie players were part of Tipperary development squads who successfully completed blitz competitions against development squads from Cork, Limerick and Waterford.
6. Lucy Spillane & Carrie Davey – Lucy picked at full back and Carrie a pannelist for Tipperary senion footballers upcoming clash against Cavan in Breffini Park. A make or break game for Tipperary.

The winner of the June will be announced at a special presentation function held at Butler's Bar on Friday night next, July 1, at 9.30pm and all are welcome to come along.

Well done to our competitors from Fethard-Killusty Area, all of whom performed exceptionally well at the County Finals of Art, Handwriting and Swimming last Saturday, June 18.  Congratulations to Zachery and Rory O'Brien, silver medalists in Swimming; Aaron Feery silver in U14 Handwriting; Gus O'Flynn and Imogen Coen both bronze medalists in Art.

Winning Family of €10,000 Holiday of a Lifetime

A Waterford Family have won the Fethard Town Park raffle prize of a €10,000 Holiday of a Lifetime. Nicola Caulfield was announced as the winner of the fundraising raffle at a live draw in Fethard Town Park on Sunday 12th June. The draw was also streamed live on the Fethard Town Park Facebook page.

Fethard Town Park sold 2,000 tickets with entries from every county in Ireland. After seeing a Rachael Blackmore video supporting the raffle, Nicola purchased a ticket online and couldn’t believe her luck when she was notified as being the winner. Nicola and her husband Michael are planning a trip to Disneyworld with their 2 young boys.
Speaking with the prize winners in Fethard Town Park on Wednesday night, Director of Fethard Town Park, Maurice Moloney said, "This has been a fantastic fundraiser for us with all profits going towards the ongoing development of Fethard Town Park, community, sport and recreational facility. We are delighted to see the prize won by a young family and we wish them every best wishes on their travels."

The raffle prize was generously sponsored by two local companies, Ribworld and Gleeson Quarries. Director of Fethard Town Park, Anthony Fitzgerald said, "Both companies have been great supporters of Fethard Town Park since the start and we are extremely appreciative of their partnership on this fundraiser."

Phase 1 of Fethard Town Park has been operational since January 2022 and includes a full size 4G and Grass Rugby/GAA pitch, training pitch, outdoor exercise equipment, walkways, and significant public realm. The construction of a community pavilion, dressing rooms, gym and café at Fethard Town Park commenced earlier this year and is due for completion in early 2023.
