Keating family information requested
Bernard Adsett sent us this request for information.
“I am wondering if you can help me or point me in the right direction. My wife’s grandfather, Thomas Keating, came from Fethard and went to England with the Hartigan family about 1910. Thomas had siblings – two sisters, Noreen or Norah, and Mellor. Mellor we think was married to the Station Master and had a son Liam. If it helps, he had a seriously bad broken leg while still in Fethard. He settled in England and married in 1913 and had two children, William and Norah. My wife is trying to trace some family history and maybe when it is safe would also like to visit Fethard.”
Any help you can give us would be much appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation. Bernard Adsett (Email: bernard.adsett@outlook.com)

Crooning for Fethard Cocooners supplied in safe surroundings with some live music from 'Fran and Muriel' at Fethard Rugby Club
We were delighted to be asked to help facilitate with the recent “Crooning for Cocooners” with the fantastically talented duo of Fran Curry and Muriel O’Connor to entertain The Cocooners in their cars for the hour on their wonderful Surehaul Trailer. It was a brilliant socially distance distraction and all made possible by the very kind sponsorship of John Nallen of Hotel Minella, following important similar events that John had arranged for Cocooners and their carers for valuable safe entertainment in these unprecedented circumstances. It brought greatjoy and happiness to all that attended. Special thanks to Kenny’s Centra for their support on the night also. The work behind the scenes by the organisers Maurice Moloney of Coolmore with Sinead Hyland Lee and team was very much appreciated.
We would like to extend special thanks to Maher Plant Hire in Clonmel for their extremely generous sponsorship of 2 Hand Sanitation Units and Sanitation Liquid supplies recently. Further Thanks to O’Donnell Fencing for important refurbishment of vandalised fencing in several places at Fethard RFC’s Community Field.

As with all sports cubs in the country we have lost all our normal fundraising abilities. These funds keep our lights on in the winter, heat the water, maintain the grounds, provide us with the training equipment, insurance costs we need for training and now the added cost of ensuring we are completely prepared to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our Rugby Family. If you are able to donate or in a position to share, please do so. We are very aware that all our households have been financially affected by the outbreak and there is a lot of uncertainty in the future so a donation of any size would be accepted and very much appreciated. Thank you from Fethard and District RFC. Please click THIS LINK to help support and continue great Rugby Fun in Fethard.
Also, those that had ordered Club Clothing earlier in the season it is due to be delivered early next month. We will be in touch with you.
If you would like to find out more about joining in the fun at Fethard RFC please make contact via the Fethard RFC Facebook page or contact any of the above Paul, Pat, Polly, Louise or Committee members. — Polly Murphy

LAST CALL for your choice of Fethard's 'BEST SENIOR FOOTBALL TEAM' of all time?(Closing 6pm, Wed. July 15)
The Gaelic Athletic Association celebrated the centenary of the GAA in 1984. In that year Fethard were crowned South and County Senior Football Champions. To mark the occasion, team trainer, Jimmy O’Shea, compiled his choice of known players (above) that would be included in his best ever Fethard Senior Football Team of all time (up to 1984 when he made his choice). Now, thirty-six years later, we’d like to know your choice to bring the ‘best players’ list up to date in 2020.
