Bicentenary of Fethard Parish Church celebrations start on Sunday with 11am Mass con-celebrated by Bishop O'Reilly

This photograph gives an idea of the huge reception given to His Grace Most Rev. Dr. O’Donnell, Co-Adjutor Archbishop of Brisbane, on the arrival to his native town of Fethard, on Sunday, August 27, 1950. Crowds assembled at 4.30pm (old time), at Congress Terrace and Kerry Street, where the Archbishop was driven by Sean Ward (16 years-of-age), to the Parish Church grounds where an address of welcome was read by Mr John Skehan, late Town Clerk, who was godfather of the Archbishop. His Grace celebrated Benediction in the Church, and later that evening a grand Reception Concert was held in his honour in the Capitol Cinema. (This is one of the many photographs published in the Commemorative Bicentenary Booklet)

Fethard Park by the Medieval Town Wall and Clashawley River - the ideal setting for Fethard’s Festival Family Fun Day, which takes place again on Sunday afternoon, June 16, 2019
Now is the time to prepare your entry for this year’s Fethard Festival Fancy Dress Parade, which takes place on Sunday, June 16. Great efforts are being made to revive the interest in the annual Fancy Dess Parade, which first began in Fethard in 1926.
