Parish Church Lotto Draw Results
There was no jackpot winner in this week's Parish Lotto on Thursday, September 30. The numbers were: 2, 5, 17 and 24. The winner of the weekly draw of €30 was Edwina Newport. Next week's Jackpot for Thursday, October 7, will be €1,800.

GAA Sports Development Lotto
Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Friday, October 1, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 21, 24, 28 and 32. There was no jackpot winner and no 'Match 3' winner. One 'Lucky Dip’ winner received €100: Majella Croke, Tullamaine, Fethard. Three 'Lucky Dip' winners received €50 each: Kevin O’Leary, Coolmore, Fethard; Aoife Browne, Drangan; and Anne Marie Dempsey, Moycarkey.

The committee of Fethard GAA Sports Centre Development Lotto would like to thank all our supporters near and far who participate in our weekly lotto draw. The next draw takes place on Friday, October 8, when the jackpot is €30,000 and the seller's prize is €1,000. The funds raised are used to promote sport in the local community.

Died Recently
The death has occurred on Tuesday. September 28, 2021, of Margaret 'Peg' Brazil (née Shine), Mullally Lawn, Cappamore and formerly of Crampscastle, Fethard, peacefully in the care of the Good Council Nursing Home, Limerick. Sadly missed by her loving husband Tom, sister Mary (Australia), brother-in-law Trevor, sisters-in-law Josie O’Dwyer (Doon) and Mary Sheridan (Caherconlish), nieces, nephews, nieces-in-law, nephews-in-law, good friends Eileen, Bridie and Sheamie, relatives, neighbours and friends. Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2021


The Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an Irish project that promises to get your 'Christmas Shoebox' into the hands of a needy child in Eastern Europe. All they ask is for you to fill a shoebox with a range of simple Christmas gifts, and drop it off at your local drop off point at Centra, Fethard, or Monica Pollard, Rocklow Road, up and including Monday, November 8, 2021. HOW TO BUILD A SHOEBOX

All you need to do is get an average size shoebox (or a plastic storage container would also be great), and wrap it with Christmas paper. This year we are vert short of empy shoe boxes and would be very grateful if anyone has some, to please drop them in to Geraldine McCarthy at Fethard Community Centre. Died Recently
The death has occurred on Wednesday. September 29, 2021, of Robert 'Bob' Maher, Coleman, Fethard. Predeceased by his wife Ann. Deeply regretted by his sons and daughters Peg, Catherine, Pauline, Tommy, Ann and Dominic, his brother Mick, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister-in-law Breda, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing in McCarthy's Funeral Home, Fethard, on Thursday, September 30, from 5.30pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass, in accordance with Covid guidelines, in St Michael's Church, Clerihan, on Friday, October 1, at 11.30am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Fethard Killusty U14 Tag Rugby team had a great match in the Munster semifinals but failed to contain a strong challenge from Clare. Cemetery Masses
This year's Cemetery Mass will take place in Calvary on Sunday next October 3, at 3pm. If weather does not permit, Mass will be in The Parish Church with the blessing of graves to take place later.

The Killusty Cemetery Mass will take place on this coming Friday, October 1, at 7.30pm with the blessing of graves after mass.

Died in England
The death has occurred on Sunday, September 26, 2021, of Lelia Byrne, South Harrow, Middlesex, England. Lelia was a daughter of the late Sergeant William Byrne and his wife Margaret Mary Byrne, who lived on Main Street Fethard. Sergeant Byrne was transferred from Mullinahone to take up his position as Sergeant in Fethard in 1940, where he served for over 20 years up to his retirement. He died on January 22, 1963, and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. His wife later moved to live in London where she died on February 7, 1990.

Lelia was a great supporter of Fethard & Killusty Annual Newsletter and a regular visitor to Fethard. She also kept in touch with local happenings through some of her many local friends. May she rest in Peace. Funeral arrangements later.

Harvest Thanksgiving Service
A Harvest Thanksgiving Service will take place in Holy Trinity Church of Ireland Fethard on Friday, October 8, at 7.30pm. The congregation are pleased to announce that the service will be taken by The Rgt Revd Bishop Michael Burrows.

This is an ideal opportunity to come together and give thanks and praise for our beautiful world and all the food and nourishment we all enjoy. Adhering to the current Covid restrictions we can allow approx 80 people in the church so we are hoping people will join us in celebrating the Harvest.

Fethard U15 ‘A’ Hurling team beat Carrick Swans to reach South Final

Fethard 4-10 Carrick Swans 3-9
Played at the Duneske Centre in Cahir on September 23, spectators were treated to an excellent display of fast hurling, particularly in the third quarter, with Fethard scoring 4-2 to Swans 1-0 and holding on in the last five minutes to win by four points. Fethard had fine displays from T.J. Keane, Noah Flynn, Andrew Wall, Gavin Neville, Oisín Ryan, Rory O’Mahony, John Lacy, Mark Neville, Danny Barry, Sam Coen, Andrew Connorton and Danny Shelley. All players caught the eye at different times with their commitment and contribution to a fine game against worthy opponents, Carrick Swan. We wish them the best of luck in the final against Mullinahone.
