Irish Open All Ireland Matchplay Champion

Pat Ryan, winner of the Setanta Irish Open All Ireland Matchplay Champion 2015
Congratulations to Pat Ryan, Moyglass, who won the Setanta Irish Open All Ireland Matchplay Competition 2015, representing Cahir Park Golf Club. Pat, playing off a handicap of 16, was representing Tipperary in the finals played in Carlton House weekending October 24 and 25.
The thirty-two county champions played off the previous week leaving the winning sixteen qualifiers going forward to play on Saturday morning, followed by the eight quarterfinalists playing on Saturday afternoon. The semifinals and final were both played on Sunday. So well done to Pat for his overall consistency in playing throughout his matches, which was essential and necessary for him to claim the title.
Many local badminton players will remember their success with Pat in 1996 when he revived badminton in the Town Hall, Fethard, and went on to win the Fr. Meehan Cup, playing with the following team: Frances Keating, Joan Carroll, Breda Ryan, Catherine Morrissey, Andrew O’Donovan, Don O’Connell, Jim Connolly and Pat Ryan.

Fethard Under-9 Rugby

Fethard Under-9 rugby team photographed at the blitz played in Fethard on Sunday last.
Fethard Under 9 rugby team started off very slow against Clanwilliam in their first match of a blitz played in Fethard on Sunday last. After prolonged pressure from the Clanwilliam tip off they conceded a try. Fethard woke up after this and scored four tries to win the game. Try scorers were Charlie Walsh, Adam Ruttle and Noah Flynn who scored two. Great running by Emily Cuddihy and Sam Austin helped to secure the win.
Next up was a big and strong Waterford City team but this didn’t deter Fethard, with powerful tackles from Noah Flynn, Paddy Ryan and Bill Smyth, in a end-to-end game. There was great intercepting from Paddy Ryan, Jack Stokes, David Lahart and great ball carrying by Pierce Vaughan and Mark Ryan that insured a thrilling draw. Try scorers were: Lee Delaney, Charlie Walsh, Gavin Neville and Bill Smyth. Wishing a speedy recover to Troy Delaney who was injured with a broken finger.

All you need to do is get an average size shoebox (or a plastic storage container would also be great), and wrap it with Christmas paper.
