 The death has occurred on Saturday 16th October of Mr Joe Bradshaw, Congress Terrace, Fethard.
Requiem Mass in Holy Trinity Parish Church at 11am on Monday 18th October, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Community Development Programme
 Fethard & Killusty Community Council are currently organising a Development Programme to assess the current committee’s work and to help ensure the future work and direction of the Community Council is what best serves the community.
The committee invite participation from community council’s sub-committees, resident associations and especially new individuals interested in getting involved in community work. People who are involved in other community groups are also more than welcome to take part.

The six-session programme is due to start October 26, and continue November 2, 9, 23, 30 and December 6 (week break 16 Nov) from 7.30 to 9.45 pm on Tuesday evenings in the Tirry Community Centre.
Ailbhe Harrington will facilitate the Development Programme. Ailbhe draws on over twenty years experience as a facilitator, trainer, educator and coach working within the voluntary, education, public and private sectors.
The proposed programme (below) will include a combination of facilitated discussions, short inputs, practical activities and skills development. The learning environment will be open, fun and allow participants the opportunity to work together.
Evening 1 - ‘Current reality and achievements’
- Introductions, expectations and group agreement;
- Internal analysis; where we are now, achievements etc;
- Introduce Belbin Team Roles.
Evening 2 - ‘Mission, vision and values’
- Mission and purpose- Why do we exist?
- What values are important to our work?
- What is our vision going forward?
Evening 3 - ‘Bridges and gaps to our future vision’
- Belbin team/group roles – Understanding how we all contribute
- Indentify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
Evening 4 - ‘Structures and working together effectively’
- Communication and individual perception
- Roles and managing meetings
- Enhance our facilitation skills
Evening 5 - ‘Stakeholder analysis’
- Who are our current stakeholders and who do we want to communicate with going forward?
- How do we communicate effectively with others?
Evening 6 - ‘Planning our future vision’
- How will what we have already achieved help us going forward?
- Establish and agree the action steps that will enable the achievement of our future vision
- Review and programme evaluation -What are we taking with us to support us into the future?
Emigrants Annual Newsletter
We appeal to all secretaries and club correspondents to submit their reports for inclusion in this year’s Emigrants Annual Newsletter as soon as possible to Joe Kenny, Rocklow Road.

Race Night a Great Success
The race night 'Niallettes' — the ladies who collected the betting money on the night photographed in McCarthys
The charity race night held in McCarthy’s for the Niall O’Riordan fund was an overwhelming success. Friends and family of Niall turned up in large numbers to help support his community work in Uruguay. The hard effort put in by Niall’s friends paid off, with over €11,000 being raised on the night.
The organizers would like to thank everybody who sponsored the runners, riders and races, all those who turned up and bet on the night, and those who donated at the charity auction.

All monies received went directly to Niall and were put into good use immediately. Niall was very grateful for the effort and looks forward to meeting everybody when he returns to Ireland again at Christmas.
Halloween Bonfires
Woodvale Walk Residents Association is appealing to residents and businesses in the locality not to supply items for use in Halloween Bonfires in the coming weeks.
Over the past years, this annual pastime has created a lot of problems in the area.
The Residents Association would like to bring to the attention of the public that the bonfire in Woodvale Walk is a not officially organised by any group, it is in no way supervised and is not covered by insurance.
GAA Club News
The Liam McCarthy Cup paid a visit to Butlers Bar last week accompanied by Tipperary start hurler, Declan Fanning. Photographed above are some of the enthusiastic supporters who came along to show their support.
Fethard GAA Club annual church gate collection will be taken up at all Parish masses on the coming weekend, in aid of the current Sports Centre upgrade.
A table quiz will be held in Butlers Sports Bar this Friday, October 15, at 10 pm, also in aid of the Sports Centre.
All-Ireland Junior Racquetball Championships will be held in the Sports Centre on this Saturday and Sunday, October 16 and 17. All are welcome.
Fethard & Killusty Community Lotto

Married Recently
Married on Friday, October 8, were Nuala Sheehan, Clarebeg, Killusty, and Paul Rafferty, Malahide, Co. Dublin. Included in the photograph are Nuala's parents, Ann and Dan Sheehan. The wedding took place in Lough Rynn Castle, Co. Leitrim.

Bunny Hop for 0-4 year olds
Bunny Hop, music and movement for 0-4 year olds, takes place on Monday mornings from 10 am to 11am in the ICA Hall on Rocklow Road.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal
The Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an Irish project that promises to get your ‘Christmas Shoebox’ into the hands of a needy child In Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union or Africa. All they ask is for you to fill a shoebox with a range of simple Christmas gifts, and drop it off at your local drop off point before November 10th, and they will do the rest!
All you need to do is get an average size shoebox (or a plastic storage container would also be great), and wrap it with Christmas paper. Choose who you’d like to receive your gift – a boy or a girl, in one of three age groups: 2-4 years, 5-9 years or 10-14 years.

Tony Sheehan Fund
The Tony Sheehan Fund, established in memory of Tony Sheehan who died some years ago, was established to help people in the Fethard area who suffer financial problems because of serious illness.

Fethard Rugby Club
Fethard & District Rugby Club recently re-grouped for the 2010/2011 season. On Sunday, October 10, we had a feast of rugby in the Community Sportsfield when we played host to nine teams from different clubs in various age categories from Under 7 through to the senior team. The club would like to extend an open invite to everyone to join us in the Community Sportsfield for training and match days to support the players - entrance is always free, and you can be assured of a warm welcome and some great displays of rugby. On Sunday last Fethard J2s welcomed Newcastle West for the second round of the Gleeson league and from the very start it was obvious this was going to be a tough physical game.
It was Fethard who put the first points on the board to punish Newcastle West for indiscipline with a well-taken penalty kick from Declan Doyle. It wasn’t until midway through the first half that Cathal Gorey scored a good try breaking through three tackles to score, with Declan Doyle adding the conversion.
Just before half-time Newcastle West got a well-worked try leaving the score Fethard 10, Newcastle West 5.
In the second half, as a result from some fine forward play, Paul Dwyer scored a good try. Newcastle West weren’t long bouncing back and scored a well-earned try.

From mid-way in the second half Fethard were under attack from a tough set of backs. With ten minutes left on the clock Fethard broke and mauled the ball up the field well. Newcastle West gave away a penalty which Declan Doyle scored leaving the score Fethard 18 Newcastle West 10.
This is a game that Fethard should have closed out mid-way in the second half but up against a tough side like Newcastle West, who never gave up, Fethard had to tackle hard and defend well. It was a well-earned victory.
On Sunday last our ‘minis’ took to the field against Thurles. It was great to see so many young players out on the day. All the Fethard teams played very well. Training continues every Friday night at 6.45 pm.

Fethard Under-15s took on Dungarvan, which was our first league match as Clonmel failed to show the previous weekend. This new look team comprised of most of last years under-13 East Munster champions team and the eligible players in their second year at under-15 level.
Fethard opened their account with a superb long run in try by Adam Fitzgerald in the corner. Some tackling errors by Fethard let Dungarvan in for a soft try but with excellent passing kept the lead in the first half.
Darren Prout out paced his man and scored a signature try. Captain Tommy Anglim tackled very well causing a loose ball to be gathered by Ben Murray and linking up with team-mates scored an opportunistic try stretching Fethard’s lead.
Dungarvan came back but Kieran Whyte’s try-saving tackles, kept the home team in front. Substitutions were made and this gave a great chance to all to make the position their own.
Some great individual performances by Eoghan McCormack at nine and the new front row of the two Cathals and Jason Ryan. Rory Hayes also put in a mammoth game and made way for Niall Kelly in the second half.
Thomas McGabhain’s inspiring breaks showed everyone that this team means business for the season ahead. Final score was 31-24.
Training next Friday should see the return of all the remaining eligible players, which will be needed when we will travel to Waterpark on Sunday, October 17.
Fethard Under-17s played their first league match on Sunday last against Nenagh. This was a very exciting game with Nenagh showing the game until the last ten minutes, when Fethard got a fine try by Dylan Fitzgerald, followed by a penalty, leaving Fethard in front at a crucial time to take the victory.
This was a very good team performance from Fethard with Dylan Fitzgerald popping up in all the right areas at all the right times to be Fethard's main tally’s man on the day.
