Fethard Tidy Towns 2010–2014Project One – 2010The river Clashawley was well overgrown with saplings of river sally, large amounts of silt and all sorts of rubbish. The tidy towns committee hired a contractor to undertake the major work needed to be done and this was all carried out under the Fisheries Board where all wildlife was protected. The work was carried out from above Madams Bridge to Watergate Bridge. We also opened an old gateway at the convent hall giving us access to this side of the river where we plant wild flowers every year which give a tremendous display of colour and attract wildlife. This was originally a kitchen garden for the lodge at the entrance to the convent.River Clashawley before clean up commencePage 4
