Fethard Tidy Towns 2010–2014The third project involved the area situated at the Grove road. This area was completely overgrown on both sides of the entrance to the sewage treatment plant. With the help of the County Council we cleared away all briars and ivy along the walls. The ditch was cut back as well and new top soil was added. Wild flowers were sown at the bottom of the walls on both sides and grass seeds on the remainder. We also planted daffodil and narcissi bulbs along entrance roads to the town. This year Kevin Collins completed a biodiversity Survey for us. This survey identified the various habitats of wildlife in our community. This information was very useful for local schools, educating the pupils about the flora and fauna in Fethard. The wood work pupils of Presentation/Patrician secondary school made bird boxes and these were placed in areas in the town which we hope will help increase our local bird population.Clear up at grove road, fethard, co TipperaryPage 16
