Fethard Tidy Towns 2010–2014Project 3 – 20122012 proved to be a very busy year for the Fethard Tidy Towns with numerous projects undertaken that year.A lot of work was undertaken at the Cashel Road this year. We developed the new Tree Park and cleared the area of poor quality trees, briars and rubbish. This site had been overgrown for many years and grass seed was sown and the area prepared for planting of new trees. A new footpath was also installed within the New Tree Park from the car park opposite the Ballroom to the playground area for safety reasons. There was a lot of interest shown in our wild flower planting along the bank of the Clashawley on the convent side. There was a spectacular show of flowers this year. There was also some bad flooding too.The Parish Church was also planted this year with a selection of bulbs and the Statue of our Lady was also painted and the rockery landscaped. The railings were also painted.Fethard Tidy Towns and Fethard Post Office launched a “Free Doggy Poo Box” campaign in May 2012 and this was also a great success in keeping our walkways clear of dog litter. This was also the year that we decided to set up our Face book Page “Fethard Tidy Towns” and this was received with great support from near and far. We have a lot of friends from other tidy towns in Ireland and it is also a way for our emigrants to keep in contact with what is going on in their Home town.Page 11
