Died Recently in Dublin The death has occurred on Sunday, July 19, 2026, of Eugene O'Dwyer, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin (Retired member of An Garda Síochána), suddenly but peacefully at home. Eugene; dearly beloved husband and best friend of Marion, father of Louise, Michael and Jeany. Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife, children and their mother Mary, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brother Tony, sister Mary, not forgetting his late brother Liam, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends. Parish Church Lotto Results
There was no jackpot winner in the Parish Lotto on Thursday, Thursday, July 23, 2026. The numbers drawn were 8, 11, 20, and 21. The winner of the weekly draw for €30 was Joe Corbett. Next week's draw takes place on Thursday, July 30, when the Jackpot is €5,000.

Died Recently in England
The death has occurred in England on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, of Pat Tynan (1948-2026), formerly from Moyglass, Fethard. Pat's daughter Sarah Tynan, shared the sad news and gave us details of Pat's funeral arrangements. Sarah went on to say that "Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2024 and his battle with it was a real tough one. We are totally lost without this kind, music man and keen gardener, we were blessed to call a husband, dad and grandad. Thank you all for working with him over the years. Attached are details of his funeral and tribute page."
In June 1998 Pat Tynan, Silverfort, was featured on Fáilte Isteach broadcast from Radio Eireann. Presenter Donnacha O’Dúlhainn said he would definitely avail of Pat’s invitation to visit Thames Radio, London, a station that emigrant Pat was involved in. Donnacha played Pat’s latest composition 'The Soldier’s Tree', a ballad telling the story of 'The Soldier’s Tree', the large oak that stands on the Mobarnane roadside.

Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Tuesday, July 21, 2026, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 2, 3, 15 and 31. We had no Jackpot winner and one Match 3 winner who received €150, Peter Nagle. One lucky dip winner, Orla McCarthy, received €100. Died Recently The death has occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2026, of Clive Morrissey, John Redmond Street, Fermoy, and formerly of Willow Park, Clonmel and St. Patrick's Place, Fethard, peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice, surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness bravely borne.
Predeceased by his infant sons, Colin and Clive, his parents Mary and Paddy, brothers Paddy and Joe, sisters Bernie and Anna, nephew Paul and niece Edel, Clive will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Ger (née Sheehan) and daughter Kay (McCall), son-in-law Dave, adored grandchildren Ruby and Colin, brothers Davey, Danny and Michael, sisters Rosie, Breda, Noreen and Vera, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Kaitlyn Ryan rides her first career winner
Congratulations to amateur jockey Kaitlyn Ryan, who rode her first career winner when winning on Eagle Fang to take the closing Thorn Plant Hire (Q.R.) Maiden at Killarney, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Kaitlyn is a daughter of Jill and Shay Ryan, Fethard.
Died Recently in England The death has occurred in England on Saturday, May 30, 2026, of Michael John Bergin,
Thurles, and Magorban, Fethard. Michael was born in Thurles on Sept 5, 1944, and grew up in Magorban, Fethard. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Molly, brother Patrick, sisters Catherine, Maura and Veronica.
Michael spent his early years on the family farm, whereas he grew up, he helped out. In 1961 he joined the Irish army where he was deployed to the Congo with the UN peacekeeping mission ONUC. He spent a good number of years of his life in the UK as a car mechanic and eventually running his own business as a garage owner. He will be sorely missed by his son Josh, Josh‘s mother Margaret, his daughter-in-law Natasha, Patty, sister-in-law Dinah, nieces Marion and Caroline and nephew Gerard. Many other friends too many to mention. May he rest in peace.
Michael will be remembered at a memorial service at 1pm on July 19, 2026, at the Bramble Hill Hotel, Bramshaw, New Forest, Hampshire, SO43 7JG, UK, near where he lived. Messages of condolence can be left online by CLICKING HERE
Killusty National School closure Mass
Sadly, Killusty School will close its doors for the last time on August 31 2026, and a School Closure Mass will take place at 10am, on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Killusty. All are invited and welcome to attend. Light refreshments afterwards in the school.
Laura Earley wins County Intermediate title, as she leads Fethard women to team gold.
Fethard Athletic Club’s athletes took to the village of Littleton on Saturday, July 11, to compete in the County Intermediate Road Championships, hosted by Moycarkey Coolcroo. With soaring temperatures of 27 degrees, all the athletes had to mentally prepare for what was going to be a tough task in difficult racing conditions. The hosts, Moycarkey Coolcroo, made sure the safety of all athletes was well taken care of, with several water stations along the course, and hosted a very well organised event, with great facilities and lots of refreshments.
The women’s race, a 4km loop, started proceedings at 7pm. Fethard’s Laura Earley was one of the strong favourites going into the race, alongside the Clonmel A.C. duo of Ruby Carroll and Amanda Moroney, and Moycarkey Coolcroo’s Nikki Kenneally, everything was lined up to be a fantastic race.
Laura had placed 2nd and 3rd in five of her previous road championships since 2024, showing great promise with improvements each year, but falling just short of getting her hands on a county title. Over the past number of weeks, Laura had been knocking sessions out of the park in training, and with some great performances at local races, she had put herself into a really strong position this year to finally take home the gold. As the race progressed, Laura saw off her challengers, opening a gap on a slight incline coming back into the village. As Laura approached the Littleton Community Centre to turn into the final 400 metres, the gap proved too big to close for her competitors as she pushed through to the line, finishing 1st in a time of 14.40 to take the women’s County Intermediate 2026 title. Congratulations Laura!
Fethard’s strong women’s team of 14 athletes go after team gold.
Then, not far down the field, it fell to Fethard’s strong women’s team of 14 athletes to go after team gold. First in after Laura was Fethard A.C. coach Carol Molloy, leading by example with a well-paced performance, finishing strong, as she picked her way through the pack to take 5th place in a time of 16.04. Another excellent performance by Carol, who has gone from strength to strength over the past year, emerging as a real contender on the county scene. Next in, and completing the scoring team, was Paula Hendriksen who finished in 8th place in a time of 16.27. Paula has been a regular team scorer for Fethard A.C., and once again came in with a gutsy run, to help Fethard women to county team gold, winning by just four points. As is becoming the norm for Fethard women, they turned out in big numbers to score points for the club in the overall standings for the Michael Cahill Cup.
Braving the tough conditions and scoring points for the club we had, Nicola Noonan finishing 18th in 19.07, Aoife Horan finishing 22nd in 19.27, Alexis Hendriksen finishing 23rd in 19.29, Deirdre Royce finishing 28th in 20.39, Isobel Minogue finishing 29th in 20.44, Siobhan Maher finishing 30th in 20.46, Eileen Morris finishing 33rd in 22.17, Tara Power finishing 34th in 22.25, Eileen Smyth finishing 35th in 22.38, Teresa Hurley finishing 36th in 23.25, and Mary Hurley finishing 37th in 23.50.
Leading the men’s team home to take bronze we had coach Louis Rice, who is just back from injury and coming into race fitness again.
The men’s 8km race, starting immediately after the women’s race, was two laps of the 4k course. Leading the men’s team home, we had coach Louis Rice, who is just back from injury and coming into race fitness again. Louis was delighted to take 5th place in a time of 29.06 and hopes to continue building fitness into the cross-country season this autumn. Next in we had a new member, Paraic Ryan, who donned the Fethard A.C. singlet for his first county championship race. Paraic has made a very good impression since joining the club, showing great promise, as he is performing very well as a beginner to the sport. He finished in 12th place in a time of 30.33.
Just behind him, in 13th place, we had James Maher, who has been a scoring member of several teams for the club over the past three years, consistently pulling out big performances and giving the Fethard A.C. men’s teams great strength time and time again. James finished in a time of 30.42 and is now setting his sights on the County 10 Mile Road Championships.
The fourth scoring man for Fethard was Kevin Tobin, who has been a brilliant team member and addition to the club over the past year. Kevin has been really consistent in putting in the work in training and always turns up for the club at county championships. His performance on Saturday again showed his character as he battled all the way to the line picking up another spot in the last 200 metres, finishing in 19th place in a time of 32.33.

The final scoring member of Fethard’s men’s team was John Hurley, finishing in 31st place in a time of 37.37. John has been a regular scorer and presence for the men’s team at county championships over the past three years and was great to see him out running again.
The combined points scored by the women’s and men’s teams was 129, leaving Fethard on 1215 total points in the Michael Cahill Cup standings.
Next up, and the final race of the county road season is the County 10 Mile, taking place in Fethard on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
20th Annual Famine 1848 Walk in The Commons
Minister Kevin Boxer Moran of the OPW will lead the 20th annual Famine 1848 Walk in Ballingarry on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 3pm. The Walk starts at the National Flag monument in the village of The Commons and proceeds to Famine Warhouse 1848, the OPW State National Heritage Site, museum and visitor attraction. There will be history, music and refreshments. All are welcome.

Phil Carroll's Bar Clonmel Music Every Month
Phil Carroll's Pub in Clonmel is a renowned venue for live music and has been the chosen venue of many of the world's best musicians to visit socially for its intimate surroundings and friendly atmosphere. The late Philip Donnelly and friends were frequent visitors and in their memory the 'Benedictine Quartet' continue to play their music on the first Wednesday of every month in Phil Carroll's Bar in Clonmel. These Wednesday night sessions have proved very popular and this recording is just one sample of their very wide repertoire of acoustic country and Americana music played every month.

Pat worked at Rice’s farm in Brookhill, Fethard, until he was 17 years of age, he then left for England and hasn’t been home since. Since his arrival he has met many of his old friends and neighbours and was also brought on a tour of the farm where he worked and the house where he lived.
