Parish Church Lotto Results
There was no jackpot winner in the Parish Lotto on Thursday, Thursday, July 9, 2026. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 11, and 23. The winner of the weekly draw for €30 was Peter Grant. Next week's draw takes place on Thursday, July 16, when the Jackpot is €5,000.

Died Recently in England
 It is with sadness that we announce the death has occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2026, of our sister Veronica (Vera) Paine, née O'Donovan, formerly of Burke Street, Fethard, and Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England, after a short illness.
Predeceased by her parents Andy and Greta and her husband David, she will be fondly remembered by her siblings, Maria (Murphy), Denis, Kay (Spillane), Meta (Cunningham), Michael, Christina (Farrell) and Andrew. Remembered by her nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, brothers and sisters in law and extended family.

GAA Sports Development Lotto Results
Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Tuesday, July 7, 2026, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 18, 19, 24 and 28. We had no Jackpot winner and no Match 3 winner. One lucky dip winner, Tom McCarthy, received €100. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, when the jackpot is €12,200.
Died Recently
 The death has occurred on Monday, July 6, 2026, of Kathleen Simpson (née Hayes) Crohane, Killenaule, peacefully at home following a long illness bravely borne with courage and dignity. Beloved wife and best friend of Tom, and cherished second daughter of the late Eamon and Kitty Hayes, Kilconnell, Fethard. Kathleen will be deeply regretted and sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Tom; her brothers Seamus and Noel; her sisters Margaret (Leahy) and Anne (Breen); her cousin Kaye Wallace; her sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Viva; her nephews, nieces and godchildren; her special friends Mary and Christine; her former work colleagues and the past pupils of Presentation Secondary School, Ballingarry; her loyal neighbours; her extended family, relatives and many friends.
Reposing at Brett's Funeral Home, Mullinahone, on Wednesday, July 8th, from 5pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday, July 9, at 11am in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drangan, followed by burial afterwards in Crohane Cemetery.  The death has occurred on Saturday, June 27, 2026, of Kathleen Meehan (nee O'Keeffe), Lismortagh, Fethard. Peacefully at Tipperary University Hospital Clonmel surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Mick, sister Mary, brothers Michael and Tommie. Loving mother to Tommy, Peggy (O'Sullivan), Richard, Mary (O'Keeffe), Michael, Patrick and Kathleen (Walsh), her dear sister Margaret Barrett, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at O'Connell's Funeral Home, Killenaule (E41 HH66) this Wednesday evening July 1, from 5 pm to 7 pm. 20th Annual Famine 1848 Walk in The Commons
Minister Kevin Boxer Moran of the OPW will lead the 20th annual Famine 1848 Walk in Ballingarry on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 3pm. The Walk starts at the National Flag monument in the village of The Commons and proceeds to Famine Warhouse 1848, the OPW State National Heritage Site, museum and visitor attraction. There will be history, music and refreshments. All are welcome.

Fethard and Killusty Community Council are delighted to let you know that a final draft of the Community Plan on which we have all been working has now been completed. Thank you for your participation to date and for all the ideas you sent to us for inclusion.
We now want to find out what you think of the important elements of the plan as developed so far. So please let us know your thoughts by responding to the questionnaire below. Rose Garden flourishing at the Augustinian Abbey
Fr Henry MacNamara OSA is photographed in these pictures, taken by Larry Kenny, while looking after his colourful rose garden at the Abbey Grounds in Fethard. In the background is the grotto in honour of Our Lady of Fatima. In 1950, the Roman Catholic Church celebrated a Holy Year, an event which was marked in Ireland with great enthusiasm. All across the country shrines and grottoes were erected, often engendering great local pride. In Fethard the occasion was celebrated with the erection of a large cross on Slievenamon, and a grotto in honour of Our Lady of Fatima was constructed in the grounds of the Abbey, along with a stained-glass window dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, commissioned for the Abbey church from the Harry Clarke Studios, Dublin.

Died Recently in Ontario, Canada
The death has occurred on Saturday, June 20, 2026, of Anne Devaney (née Mackey), Toronto, Canada, and formerly the Cahir Road, Fethard. Anne was the last of her generation of the Mackey family. A daughter of the late Gerry and Liz Mackey, Cahir Road, and a sister of the late Chris and Tom Mackey.
Anne was born in Fethard and went to school at the Presentation Convent. She emigrated to Canada in 1966, and returned frequently to visit her family in Fethard and Killenaule, Anne was a regular subscriber to the Fethard and Killusty Newsletter for well over thirty years, and also kept in touch on the internet to get all the current news from Fethard and locality.
Anne's funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 9am, at the Assumption Catholic Funeral Home, 6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga, Ontario, L5T 1N4. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Princess Margaret Foundation would be greatly appreciated. May she rest in Peace.
Killusty 'Tipperary Cup' Reunion on Saturday, July 4
It's hard to believe that it's been 40 years since Tom Halpin lifted the 1985–1986 Tipperary Challenge Cup for the first time in the club's history. It was a remarkable achievement, given that season we finished bottom of the Third Division of the TSDL, but went on a cup run that eventually saw us come out on top, beating St Ailbies of Thurles after a replay.
The reason we even got to play the replay has gone down in Killusty folklore – it took a wonder strike from a Willie O'Meara free kick. Deep into extra time, Willie scored a goal that I will always say was the most important goal in the history of our little club.
We went on to defeat St Ailbies on a 3-1 scoreline. So to commemorate that great day we are having a reunion on Saturday, July 4, in Burkes Bar, Main Street, Fethard. This is not a night just for the cup winning panel but any lads out there who ever pulled on the Killusty jersey are more than welcome to come along for a night of reminnising and a lot of craic. It's an 8pm kick off until, well closing time obviously, we hope to see a lot of old teammates there.
The Killusty club was founded in 1969 (initially as Anner Villa before adopting the name Killusty in April 1971), the club developed into one of the leading junior soccer clubs in South Tipperary during the 1980s.
