Social Dancing at Fethard Ballroom
Social Dancing continues at Fethard Ballroom on Sunday night, January 18, 2026, dancing to the music of, ‘Declan Aungier’. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a terrific night’s social dancing from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. Admission is €10, which includes refreshments.
Fethard and District RFC shine in Girls' Munster League semi-final double header
Fethard Town Park was the venue for a significant sporting event on Saturday, January 10, as Fethard and District RFC hosted a double-header Munster League quarter final featuring the U14 and U16 Girls teams.
The U14 Girls team competed against Cobh/Kinsale/Muskerry in a highly competitive match and achieved a commendable victory.
Similarly, the U16 Girls team delivered an impressive performance, triumphing over Skibbereen/Bantry Bay in another engaging game showcasing excellent rugby skills.
Both teams will advance to the semi-finals, with details regarding opponents and venues to be announced.
The teams wish to extend their gratitude to their sponsors: SAS Slievenamon Agri Services and O’Donnell Fencing for the U14 Girls, and Dalton’s Pharmacy Fethard for the U16 Girls.
GAA Sports Development Lotto Results Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Tuesday, January 13, 2026, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 9, 19, 23 and 29. We had no Jackpot winner and three Match 3 winners who received €50 each: Liam Everard, Gary O'Dwyer, Micheal Conway
. One lucky dip winner received €100: Sharon O'Meara. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, when the jackpot is €7,400.

Parish Church Lotto Draw Results
There was no jackpot winner in the Parish Lotto on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The numbers drawn were 1, 13, 20, and 21. The winner of the weekly draw for €30 was Edwina Newport. Next week's draw takes place on Thursday, January 15, when the Jackpot is €4,400

On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Rocklow Medical Centre moved from its premises at Northgate House to the brand-new facility at Fethard Primary Care Centre, Rocklow Road (Eircode E91 W6K8). It is with a degree of sadness and excitement that we have moved after 31 years. The offices at Northgate have been a place of care, trust and connection for generations of patients and extended families over that number of years.

Leaving a space with so much history is not easy but, this move represents progress and the way forward. Our new medical premises will allow us to continue to offer high quality care in a more modern, comfortable, and accessible surrounding.
This practice was started by myself (Carmel Condon), back in 1984 (I started young!), and this is my fourth change of premises in Fethard town. Fortunately, in 2001 my staff and I were joined by Dr Linsey Mason, and more recently by Dr Niamh Scanlon. Together with our staff we have been lucky to be involved in this new development. Fethard Primary Care Centre will incorporate HSE services for the Slieveardagh area, who plan to also move here the near future, and will also include the medical practice of Dr Jaco Oosthuysen. This is a great all-inclusive step for medical care in the Fethard area and guarantees ongoing medical care in our town at a time of doctor shortages.
Personally, I would like to thank our patients, staff and the local community for their loyalty and support over the past 41 years. While our address and facilities may have changed, our dedication to your health and wellbeing remains the same.
I would also like to thank Coolmore Stud and the HSE for pushing this initiative forward and overseeing the completion of this fine building in our town.
Lots of parking spaces available at main entrance on Rocklow Road (road to Moyglass), on the right-hand side after you pass Fethard Town Park and Fethard Parochial House.
I would also like to mention my deceased friend and colleague, Dr Molly Owens, who passed away on December 23, 2023. The plan for this centre was formulated by a group of us back in 2020 as an addition to Fethard Town Park. It is also a tribute to Molly that we now have this great facility to provide excellent medical care to the Fethard area for many years to come. – (Carmel Condon)

"A picture is worth a thousand words" is an adage in multiple languages meaning that complex and sometimes multiple ideas can be conveyed by a single still image, which conveys its meaning or essence more effectively than a mere verbal description.
This photograph of Fethard has the potential to raise a thousand questions about the forgotten and lost features of our town from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Take a closer look and see if you spot any changes from today's world and maybe a few words that will help explain to those unaware.
The Photographer
On March 20, 1865, at the age of 24, William Mervin Lawrence opened a Photographic Studio opposite the GPO at Sackville Street, Dublin. Over the years the studio successfully photographed the length and breadth of Ireland. The collection consists of 40,000 glass plates mainly from the period 1880-1914, but some plates go back to 1870.

We think this lady is Maggie O'Brien. She lived in The Valley and died around the time we went to live there in the nineteen-fifties. We eventually moved in to her house which had three bedrooms and a loft and seemed like a palace compared to the one-roomed house we had been living in. It must be a very old photo as she seems much younger than the old lady with a shawl that I remember from around 1955-56, in my pre-school days. I showed it to my mother and she thought it was a young Maggie as well. Wasn't a hundred per cent sure, though. The late Nellie Shortall would probably have remember her more clearly.
