A Christmas Flower Demonstration will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 3, at Slievenamon Golf Club, by Mandy at Fethard Flowers, in aid of Holy Trinity Church of Ireland Fethard and donation to Scoil Aonghusa, Cashel. Ticket Price is €15 and are available from Fethard Flowers and Slievenamon Golf Club. Refreshments served afterwards.

The death has occurred on Thursday, October 17, 2024, of Paddy O'Donnell, Kilfarressy, Fenor, Waterford, X91 RT73, and formerly of Fethard. Predeceased by his wife Gay. Paddy will be sadly missed by his loving sons Neil, Paddy, daughters-in-law Bridget, Maria, grandchildren Nico, Marie-anne, Maireád, brothers Willie and Hugh, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephew, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours, friends, and wide circle of equestrian friends. Reposing at his son Paddy’s residence, Kilfarrsey, Fenor (X91 RT73) on Friday, October 18, from 4.30pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday, October 19, at 12 noon in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Fenor, followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery. Requiem mass on Friday, October 18, at 1pm in the Church of the Visitation (formerly Church of the Nativity), Cloneen, followed by Cremation afterwards in The Island Crematorium Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

A bigger and better ‘Christmas Market’ is planned for Fethard on Sunday, December 1, so be sure to mark the date in your diary. Santa is coming with lots of street entertainment and craft stalls. Fethard Convent Community Hall will also have lots of stalls displaying a variety of goods suitable for your Christmas shopping.

GAA Sports Development Lotto Results
Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for October 15, 2024, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 7, 15, 24 and 33. We had no Jackpot winner and one Match 3 winner who received €150: Lorraine Coen. One lucky dip winner received €100: Robert Wallace. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, October 22, when the jackpot is €30,000.

On October 4, a Musical Extravaganza was held in Holy Trinity Parish Church. Thanks to Fr Liam Aylward for facilitating this great community event in aid of Fethard & District Day Care Centre.  The show was opened by Patrician Presentation Secondary School choir, and was followed by Joe Roche, who sang solo and a duet with his wife, Polly. Paul Hayes sang solo, a duet with Anita Maguire and as part of the Fethard Choral Group, accompanied by Suzanne Buttimer of Rockwell Academy on piano.

The Strappe and Horan families opened the second half with some traditional Irish music. Ciara and Aoife Horan giving a display of Irish Dancing. Special Guest, Ronan Tynan, took to the stage with his pianist, William Russel Lewis, who had flown in from America to take part. Compères on the night were Eileen Maher and Jimmy O’Sullivan. An amazing night showcasing local and international talent. A huge Thank You to everyone who supported this amazing event.

Galloping Towards Gold in Moyne

Fethard AC athletes celebrating after winning the County Intermediate Team title at the Intermediate Cross Country Championships hosted by Moyne A.C. on Sunday, October 13.

The Intermediate Cross Country Championships hosted by Moyne A.C. took place on Sunday, October 13, in The Castle field in Moyne. Our juveniles and women put in super performances with their medal haul. It was then our men’s team turn in the Intermediate cross country race. Emmett McNamara, back after a lengthy break due to injury, was certainly not given any sympathy as Barry Harnett of Dundrum started at a blistering pace with Emmett and Louis Rice fighting hard to stay with him. It was the Dundrum man who prevailed coming home strongly with Emmett McNamara in the silver medal position, and Louis Rice making it two in the top three for Fethard AC.

With two runners home we looked to now secure a historic team win for the Club. Our third man home was James Maher, who came in strongly followed by "a sight for sore eyes" – the evergreen Fintan Rice, not far behind to cross the line and give Fethard AC the County Intermediate Team title. Our fifth man home was our proud club chairman, John Hurley, who was thrilled to be part of another history day for the club.

Parish Church Lotto Draw Results


There was no jackpot winner in this week's Parish Lotto on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The numbers drawn were 5, 8, 16, and 23. The winner of the weekly draw for €30 was Patrick Broderick. Next week's Jackpot for Thursday, October 23, will be €4,750.

Social Dancing at Fethard Ballroom


Social Dancing continues at Fethard Ballroom on Sunday, October 20, to the music of ‘Dermot Lyons'. All are welcome to come along and enjoy us for a terrific night’s social dancing from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. Admission is €10, which includes tea and cakes and raffle.

Fethard & Killusty Emigrants Newsletter celebrate its 65th year in operation this year. The first Newsletter (one single page) was published in 1959 by the Legion of Mary and posted to emigrants throughout the world to help keep them in touch with life in Fethard parish.

Today, 65 years later, we have kept the tradition alive and in doing so, have captured the opinions and memories of many of our community, old and young, that will enhance generations to come, in particular the huge amount of emigrants that have now discovered their long lost Fethard roots with the help of family tress, internet searches and in particular, relatives with DNA connections to local families. Exciting times for those embracing new technology.
