Le Chéile Schools Trust
Patrician Presentation Secondary School in Fethard is one of the schools in The Le Chéile Schools Trust, which now comprises the schools of fifteen religious congregations. The congregations are currently responsible for 53 voluntary secondary schools and are the trustees in 8 Community Schools across the country.
The aim of the Trust is to carry on the legal, financial, and inspirational role of trusteeship that has, up to now, been done by individual congregations. It carries out the legal and inspirational role of trusteeship. This is a significant development in Irish education as the Catholic Church and the individual religious congregations renew and reformulate their commitment to Irish education.
The main object of Le Chéile is the development of a vision of Catholic education and overseeing its implementation in the schools, encouraging preservation of key aspects of the evangelical heritage of their founding Congregation and to facilitate the opening of new schools if and where the need arises and resources permit. In the case of non- denominational schools, the aim is to promote the integration of human and spiritual values that permit Catholic values to develop.
To celebrate Le Chéile Day on March 31, Patrician Presentation produced a newsletter of the ongoing activities in the school that are happening in line with the ethos of the Le Chéile Schools. READ THE NEWSLETTER ONLINE

Big Picture – Millennium Pilgrimage to Holy Year Cross on Slievenamon 2000
Millennium Pilgrimage to Holy Year Cross 2000
The largest crowd ever turned out to take part in the annual pilgrimage to Holy Year Cross on Slievenamon on Sunday, May 21, 2000 – a date chosen to coincide with National Pilgrimage Day in Ireland. The ceremony concluded with mass in O’Donnell’s field followed by much appreciated refreshments served by a local committee. Fr Sean Ryan c.c. was spiritual director, and amongst the pilgrims who completed the journey to the cross, was sprightly octogenarian Fr John Meagher OSA.
To mark his fifty-years unbroken association with the Slievenamon pilgrimage as general administrator and co-ordinator, a presentation was made to Christy Williams of a beautiful, framed picture of the first sunrise on Slievenamon of the new Millennium, photographed on 1st January 1, 2000.
