Augustinian Abbey Gathering in the Abymill

All those who are involved in ministry in the Augustinian Abbey are invited to a gathering in the Abymill on Friday evening, February 24, at 7.30pm. This is the first such gathering since the Covid crisis. Eucharist will be celebrated, and other matters such as, safeguarding and pastoral ministry, will be on the agenda. Fuller details to follow.

Died Recently
The death has occurred on Sunday, February 19, 2023, of Timothy (Tim) Hurley, Sparagoleith, Rocklow Road, Fethard, and formerly of Marian Square, Fermoy , Co Cork.
Inexpressibly grieved by his loving wife Mary, sons Timmy and Cian, sister Patricia, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
Reposing in McCarthy's Funeral Home, Fethard, on Tuesday, February 21, from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish Church, Fethard, at 11am on Wednesday, February 22, followed by removal to the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. William Despard Hemphill – Tipperary People and Places lecture Series

W.D. Hemphill, son of Samuel Hemphill, originally of Springhill, Killenaule was born in 1816 in Clonmel. After qualifying as a doctor, he returned to Clonmel and settled with his wife in Brighton Place and later in Oak Ville. He is best known for his interest in photography and his publication Stereoscopic Illustrations of Clonmel. Fethard family support Turkish earthquake victims

Huseyin ‘Coco’ Barlaz, Extreme Carwash & Valeting, photographed with his extended family at The Green, Fethard, where they raised much needed funds for those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey.
On Sunday last, February 12, a local businessman, Huseyin ‘Coco’ Barlaz, who operates his business, Extreme Carwash & Valeting, at The Green, Fethard, to good use by raising funds for those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey, his home country. Coco’s good friend Eyyup ‘Ray’ Çiçek, also from Turkey, lost two close relatives in the earthquake, and gathered family members to take part in this unique fundraising efforts.
Coco and Ray, along with their family members, opened ‘Extreme Carwash & Valeting Service’ all day on Sunday when they offered all proceeds from their Car Washing Service to go towards raising funds for this tragedy and make sure it goes directly to ‘Turkish Aid’ where it was needed most. Family members also supplied a wonderful range of fresh home baking, cakes, buns, tarts on sale to support the fundraising, which was very well supported.
Both Coco and Ray have lived in Fethard for many years, having first met their future wives (McCormack sisters from Fethard), in Turkey while on holidays. Both are self-employed and run successful businesses in Fethard. Ray operates his barber shop, ‘Rayzor’s Turkish Barbers’ at Lower Main Street, Fethard.
Both families are very grateful for the local good wishes and support received to date, as they also are for the continued custom received in their individual businesses.
RTE's ‘Operation Transformation’ visit Fethard

Fethard Patrician Presentation School students and staff photographed with their inspirational Special Needs Assistant, Nuala Ahearne, to wish herself and her daughter the school's best wishes as they take part in RTE's Operation Transformation's 5km run/walk in the Phoenix Park on Saturday, February 18.
On Thursday, February 9, Fethard Patrician Presentation School welcomed RTE's outside broadcast crew to the school to record a piece for this week's Operation Transformation programme which will feature our school's inspirational SNA (Special Needs Assistant), Nuala Ahearne. Nuala and her daughter Georgia are going to participate in the Operation Transformation's 5km run/walk in the Phoenix Park on February 18. The students and staff gathered outside the school to wish Nuala the very best on this venture.

Social Dancing in Fethard Ballroom

Fethard Ballroom continues its social dancing on Sunday, February 19, to the music of 'Teddy & Cathal Barry'. All are welcome to come along and enjoy a great night’s entertainment and social dancing from 8.30pm to 11.30pm. Admission is €10, which includes tea and cakes. Celebration of Life Service at the Augustinian Abbey on this Sunday, February 26.
On Sunday, February 26, a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 12 noon in the Augustinian Abbey, Fethard.
This is a community gesture of solidarity with all who have been touched directly, indirectly, or in any way been affected by suicide. Suicide support services, first responders, students and other groups will come together for this simple service in support of the many members of the community who have suffered in any way from the tragedy of suicide. All are invited and welcome to come along.
GAA Sports Development Lotto Results
Fethard GAA Sports Lotto draw results for Tuesday, February 14, 2023, are as follows: the numbers drawn were: 8, 23, 27 and 30. We had no Jackpot winner and one 'Match Three' winner who received €150: Eimear Egan. One Lucky Dip winner received €100: Martina Cowlard. The next draw takes place on Tuesday, February 21, when the jackpot is €17,200. The funds raised are used to promote sport in the local community.
