Coder Dojo Club
Following a meeting of all the parents involved in Coder Dojo in Fethard Patrician Presentation Secondary School, our Coder Dojo Club will recommence its weekly sessions on Wednesday, November 23, at 7pm. South Championship Medals
Special guest speaker, Babs Keating, photographed at the presentation of South Championship medals with Fethard’s Jack Ward and Stephen Crotty, Divisional medal winners; Ryan Walsh, U14 hurling Captain and Conor Neville, U12 hurling Captain.The award ceremony was held at Clonmel Park Hotel on Sunday night last, November 20.
Monster Auction in memory of the late James Curran, takes place in Butler’s Bar on Saturday, November 26, at 9pm. Items for auction include, John ‘Bubbles’ O'Dwyer’s All Ireland hurley, a signed Tipperary Jersey, morning on the gallops with Tony Martin, Jodhpurs signed by Fran Berry, two-night stay in Clonacody House, picture of Sadler’s Wells and two crossed hurleys, there will also be a raffle on the night.
Visit to Grave of Fethard native, Fr. Sheehy
This Saturday, November 26, Fethard Historical Society are organising a visit to the grave of the 18th century martyr Fr. Nicholas Sheehy who is buried in Shanrahan Graveyard , close to the village of Clogheen. Fr. Sheehy was, according to tradition, born in Fethard and he was ‘hanged, drawn and quartered’ in Clonmel one hundred and fifty years ago in 1766 at the height of the Penal era. Anyone interested in visiting his grave and hearing his story can meet at the Town Hall , Fethard, at 11am ( for possible car-pooling) or at the RC Church , Clogheen, at 12 noon on Saturday next, November 26. At Clonmel Races
Sean and Teresa Connolly present the Clonmel Oil Cup and trophy to Luke McMahon and friends following the victory of the Willie Mullins trained Alelchi Inois in an exciting renewal of the Clonmel Oil Steeplechase at Clonmel Races on November 17. St. Vincent de Paul
Those families needing help from St. Vincent de Paul this Christmas may obtain application forms available at the end of Holy Trinity Parish Church or the Augustinian Abbey this week. The forms should be filled out and returned to any member of the society as soon as possible.
We would also remind all our generous supporters that our Annual Church Gate Collection will take place in the parish on the weekend of December 11 and 12.
Neilie runs 21st Marathon for Charity
Well done to Neilie Hall, St. Patrick’s Place, Fethard, who recently ran his 21st Marathon for charity. At this year’s Dublin City Marathon, Neilie raised €2,042 for South Tipperary Hospice for which he must be highly complimented for his effort and continuous support for this very worthwhile service in our community.
Fethard Rugby Club
Two great performances from our 2nd XV and U18s this weekend. Our 2nds lost narrowly to a strong Clonmel team 28-22 with some great performances by our young guys in the team. The 18s had a huge last weekend winning 51-5 and scoring 9 tries. Congratulations to all the players involved.
Fantastic rugby also from our U10 and U12 girls at the weekend when they played with Bantry at the Munster Girls Rugby Day held in Middleton. You played excellent today to come out on top in your games. Great work girls.
Patrician Presentation Students Awards Day
The Patrician Presentation Secondary School’s Annual Award’s Day and the Opening Mass of the School Year were held in the school hall on Friday, October 28. Invited guest on the day was Noel McGrath, Tipperary senior hurler and All-Ireland medal winner. Also present were members of the school’s Board of Management, Parents’ Association, local Primary School principal, Mrs Tríona Morrisson, and parents of award winning pupils.
The winner of the Bishop Delaney Award for the best Leaving Cert Results 2016 was Orla Walsh. The trophy was presented by special guest Tipperary hurler, Noel McGrath. Orla achieved 530 points in her Leaving Cert and is now studying Agriculture in UCD.
On behalf of the school, student Dylan Fenlon welcomed guests to this year’s Awards Ceremony. Canon Tom Breen P.P. and Fr. Gerry Horan OSA concelebrated the Mass with music from the school choir, directed by Ms Megan Raggett.
Mr O’Sullivan congratulated all the award winners and their parents and thanked all those who helped in any way to organise the Awards’ Ceremony, in particular the organising committee. He then invited Mr Noel McGrath to address the students and all present.
Noel spoke to the students about the importance of never giving up and always trying your best even when you feel like you’re not good enough. He spoke of times he felt like giving up hurling but came back, worked hard on self-belief and achieved his goal of playing for Tipperary and winning an All-Ireland medal and three Munster medals.

Social dancing at Fethard Ballroom
Dancing on Sunday Night, November 27, to the music of ‘Peter Burke’. All welcome to come along and enjoy a great night’s entertainment and social dancing from 9pm to midnight. Admission is €8 which includes tea and cakes.
Fethard & Killusty Community Lotto
The numbers drawn on November 16 were: 11, 12, 14 and 15. There was no jackpot winner and no ‘Match Three’ winner so the following drawn tickets received €50 each: Aine Cuc, An Coill, Fiodh Ard; Margaret Walsh, Barrack Street, Fethard; and Yvonne Mulvihill (ticket bought online).

GAA Sports Development Lotto
The numbers drawn on Friday, November 18, were 14, 19, 22 and 30. There was no jackpot winner and one match three winner who received €100: Margaret Lonergan, Clerihan. There were two €25 Lucky Dip winners: Chris Coen, Strylea; and Danny Kane, Kerry Street.

The late Paddy Ahearne’s first Anniversary Mass will be held in the Parish Church, Fethard, at 7pm on November 26.
Tipperary Foxhounds ‘Point to Point’
Tipperary Foxhounds will hold their ‘Point to Point’ races over the Lisronagh Course on Sunday, December 4, with the first race starting at 12 noon. A Dog Show will take place at 2pm and Ladies Side-Saddle Race at 3pm with lots more including a ‘Food Fair’ and ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and Gent’.
