Christmas Party at Moyglass
The new Community Hall in Moyglass was used to good extent on Sunday last, December 5, when it hosted its first Senior Citizens Christmas Party. A large crowd turned up and were delighted with the comfortable atmosphere and great facilities at the centre. A special cake was baked by Monica Keyes to mark the occasion.

Fethard Juvenile GAA
We held our annual ‘Medal Presentation’ last Saturday evening in the Fethard Youth Club. Paul Fitzgerald presented the medals to our U-12, U-14 and U-16 South Football Champions. Declan Fanning presented medals to our U-14 South Hurling Champions and our U-14 and U-16 County Football Champions.  Declan also brought with him the Liam McCarthy Cup and the U-21 All Ireland Trophy, much to the delight of our players and parents alike.

Edwina Newport and Ger Manton, from the Youth Club were on hand to open up and help during the evening. Damien Morrissey provided the music. John Hurley, Andy O'Donovan and Noelle Aherne provided the refreshments. We would like to thank all those who helped on the night.

Well done to the Fethard schools U-14 team who took part in a hurling blitz in Clonmel and reached the final, only to be beaten by St. Ailbe’s from Tipp Town. Well done boys on your first outing and here’s hoping that this is the start of things to come in the school on the hurling and football front.

Santa comes to Fethard on Sunday
On Sunday next, December 12, from 2pm to 4.30pm, Santa will pay his annual visit to Lonergan’s ‘Winter Wonderland’ at The Square, Fethard. Children are welcome to come along and meet Santa. Be sure to wrap up well as it never fails to snow!

Road conditions
Our thanks to the tremendous work of the County Council staff in their efforts to keep our main roads driveable during the recent severe spell of bad weather. In this record-breaking spell of artic conditions, all the main roads were very well serviced while extra care and diligence was needed for those driving on the minor roads.

Rugby Club Christmas Party
Fethard & District Rugby Club will host a Christmas Party in the Ballroom on December 18. The evening will commence with a mulled wine reception at 8pm, before dinner at 8.30pm. There will be a full bar facility, and dancing until late. With tickets keenly priced at only €35, the Christmas Party would be a great way to celebrate with work colleagues, or with family and friends.

You don't have to be a member of the club to join us - and you will be assured of a warm welcome on the night. So make a date, pick up your tickets from any committee member, from O'Sullivan's Pharmacy, or call 087 1600722. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Margaret celebrates 90th Birthday
Congratulations to Margaret Sheehan from Fethard, Co. Tipperary, who celebrated her 90th Birthday on Sunday December 5, photographed above with her husband John. Peg, as she is known to all her family and friends, braved the icy conditions to attend a family lunch in the Minella Hotel in Clonmel, which was made extra special by the wonderful care of the management and staff.  A big thank you to everyone for all the beautiful flowers, cards and good wishes.

Annual Newsletter change of addresses
Please hand in your change of addresses and any new address for the Emigrants’ Newsletter mailing list to Joe Kenny, Rocklow Road, or Carmel Rice, Brookhill, as soon as possible. Every year, a certain number of Newsletters are returned because people have changed address or come back home to live. Please help us avoid this waste of postage costs by checking if your family member’s addresses are up to date and letting us know if they have changed since last Christmas.
The Annual Church Gate Collection in aid of the Fethard & Killusty Emigrants Newsletter will take place in the parish weekending January 2, 2011. Proceeds will go towards covering the cost of posting over 900 Newsletters free of charge to our emigrants living throughout the world. It is now over 50 years since the Fethard Legion of Mary sent the first Newsletter in 1959.

St. Vincent de Paul
And Jesus said to the cured leper, “Where are the other nine, did I not heal ten, are you the only one to come back.”
This gospel story shows how important it is to say thanks and the Conference of Holy Trinity in Fethard wishes to say a most sincere and grateful thank you for the magnificent donation we received at our Church Gate Collection last weekend. The sum of €3,112 is the largest ever given to us at the Church gates. To receive such a record sum at a time of severe economic recession is a great boost to our Conference. We will use this money diligently and prudently and we are delighted that the parish has again shown its confidence in us. Again thank you.
