KILUSTY SOCCER
Following on a most exciting series of games played on the ‘round-robin’ method Christopher Aylward's team were winners of the under/14 mixed juvenile soccer team tournament at Killusty on Sunday last.
Christopher, who also won the 'Player of the Tournament Award' accepted the Pat Aylward Memorial Shield Award on behalf of his team. A record number of teams, comprised of both boys and girls, took part in this annual event which grows from strength to strength.

LEAVING CERT RESULTS
Congratulations to all the Leaving Certificate students of Patrician Presentation Secondary School who achieved excellent results in this years exam. Grade A Honours were achieved across the board in subjects such as English, Biology, Technical Drawing, Geography, History and Maths.
The students were pleased with their CAO offers and many are heading to third level colleges. We wish them every success and a happy and safe Debs 2001 on Thursday August 30th.

ST. RITA’S CAMOGIE
Due to the continued involvement of the Tipperary Senior Camogie team in the All-Ireland series our championship games have been postponed until further notice. Preparations, however, are still in full swing and we have been invited to participate in a 7-a-side tournament in Butlerstown, Co. Waterford on next Sunday 2nd September. Training continues on Tuesday and Friday nights, but at the revised time of 7pm.

BACK TO SCHOOL
Fethard Patrician Presentation Secondary School re-opens this week. First year students are requested to report, with their Birth Certificates, on this Thursday, August 30th. Third and Fifth year students return on the following day Friday 31st; second and sixth years on Monday September 3rd and transition year pupils on Monday 10th September. Nano Nagle National School and St. Patrick’s Boys School both re-open on Monday September 3rd.

SCHOOL MEETING
A meeting with the parents of local national school students will take place on this Thursday evening August 30th. Parents of the pupils of Nano Nagle School are requested to attend the school hall at 7.30pm and parents of the boys are requested to attend St. Patricks School Hall at 8pm.

DIED RECENTLY
The death has occurred of Bro. John Gallagher, Patrician Brothers, Newbridge. The late Brother John was an esteemed member of the teaching staff of Fethard Patrician Presentation Secondary School in the eighties. He left Fethard in 1985 when he retired from teaching and moved to Kenya.
A keen sportsman he will be well remembered by senior members of local gun clubs. A keen shot he bred, trained and worked an excellent strain of Irish Red Setters.
Internment took place in Newbridge.

FETHARD BRIDGE CLUB
Fethard Bridge Club will reopen in the Tirry Centre on Wednesday 5th September 2001 at 7.30 pm. New members are welcome. The club hopes to run a course of lessons for beginners in the autumn. Anyone interested should contact Gemma Burke 31383/31799 (after 6pm) as soon as possible.

FETHARD YOUTH CLUB
Fethard Youth Club will reopen on Saturday night 8th September from 7.30pm – 9.30pm. Fethard is classified as a senior club so all members must attend secondary school or equivalent second level school. We look forward to seeing all our past members return and meeting new members who are always welcome.

TIPPERARY-ITALIAN WEDDING
The wedding took place at Magorban Church on Sat last, August 25th, of Sarah, daughter of Mr. Louis and Mrs. Jane Grubb, Beechmount House, to Mr. Sergio Furno, Italy.

FETHARD RUGBY
Coach Sean Devaney, having formed a juvenile rugby team at very short notice to take part in the Community Games 2001, said at the time, if necessary co-operation was forthcoming he would continue with the good work for the '01/'02 season. Due to popular demand Sean has advised that coaching and training for the coming season for under/12 and uunder/10 rugby players will commence in the school sportsfield on this Saturday, September 1st at 11.30am.

FETHARD & KILLUSTY COMMUNITY LOTTO
The numbers drawn on Tuesday 21st August were 3, 6, 26 and 30. We had no Jackpot winner and one 'Match 3' winner who received £100, Alice Lawrence, Woodvale Walk, Fethard. Next week's Jackpot is £3,800.

FETHARD GAA NOTES
In intermediate hurling on Sunday last in Clonmel we secured a draw on a scoreline Fethard 0-16 (0-8) to Cahir 2-10(0-7). The team was Conor O’Donnell, John Kelly, Michael Ryan, William Delaney, Michael Carroll, Michael Aherne, Kenneth Browne, Miceál Spillane (0-11), Cian Maher, Kenneth O’Donnell (0-2), Willie Morrissey, J.P. Looby (0-1), Garreth Byrne (0-1), David Flanagan, Brian Coen. Subs used: Michael Costello, Peter Nolan, Owen Doyle. Other subs: Michael Dillon and William Harrington. Our next game is against Skeenarinka on Friday September 7th in Clonmel.
The senior football county league final will be played this Friday night 31st August in Kilsheelan at 6.30 against Clonmel Commercials. In junior football (b) we play Clonmel Og in Monroe on Sunday 2nd September at 6.30pm. All players please take note.
Our lotto jackpot of £4600 had no winner. We had 3 match three winners each receiving £35: John Corcoran, c/o Erin Foods; Kim Lonergan & Martin Power. Numbers drawn were 6, 7, 8 and 12.
All Ireland tickets must be collected by club members only before Thursday night September 6th at 9pm. Contact Nicky or Noel before Thursday.
