Badminton Notes
Recent league results; Div 3: Hillview 5 Fethard 2, Fethard 5 Galbally 2. In the Hillview game five of the games went to three sets. Against Galbally Fethard lost two mixed which were very closely contested. Fethard hope to reverse these losses when they play Hillview at home and Galbally away. Fethard team Pat Ryan, Jim Connolly, Ger Browne, Catherine Morrissey, Ashling and Catherine Kenny. The fifth division team lost 4-3 away to Drangan. This was a good away result and Fethard should turn the tables in their home game against Drangan, Fethard team; Ger Browne, Andy O’Donovan, Noel Sharpe, Fiona Lawrence, Dolores Costigan, Monica Hickey.

Ballylusky White Heather Harriers meet on Sunday next Feb 21st at Killusty.

Fethard defeated Nemo Rangers, Cork in their Munster S.F. league game at Fethard on Saturday last. This was a terrific game of fast open football and merited a much larger attendance. The final score was Fethard 5-8, Nemo Rangers 2-8. The build up to many of the Fethard scores was really top class and two of the goals in particular when they moved the ball out of their own defence to score without a Cork player touching the ball were out of the top drawer. The first of these two scored by Conor McCarthy who blasted home from outside the 21. The second from John Paul Looby in off the far post from an acute angle was also a first class effort. Fethard if they can maintain this form will cause more than a few surprises in this years championship. Success however brings it’s own problems and Fethard have a few on Sunday when they are listed to play Aherlow at home in the Tipperary S.F. league and away to St. Finbarrs, Cork in the quarter final of the Munster competition.
