FETHARD NOTES
Day Care Centre
Fethard Day Care Centre propose to open five days per week. More volunteer helpers are required to give an hour or two per month to help with the new rota. Helpers are especially required in the mornings to help to prepare dinners. Those unable to make a commitment to attend could greatly assist by preparing desserts etc.
Further information may be obtained by contacting Yvonne at the Centre on 052 31000.
Hunting
Ballyluskey White Heather Harriers had another great run from their meet at Annsfort. Finding in the gorse at Carrigeensearach they ran to the Shanbally Road which they crossed. Turning left-handed, they hunted with great drive across the Monroe Road near the G.A.A. field. Swinging to the right in Fortwilliam, the fox crossed the main ClonmelFethard Road and ran to Orchardstown. Turning left here, the small pack of eight and a half couple pairs flew to the old church on the hill at Rathronan where they were stopped to avoid the heavy traffic on the Clonmel Road. This was a cracking hunt of some 45 minutes which hounds hunted without a check.
Racing Fethard was the centre of British sports media journalists during the past week. Correspondents from the Racing Post and T.V. crews from Sky Sports and Channel 4 Racing visited Mouse Morris stables at Everardsgrange to feature the establishment’s Cheltenham runners. Best of luck to the four stable entries: ‘His Song’, ‘Foxchaple King’, ‘Newco’ and ‘Illegal Alien’ as they endeavour to add to the great record of Fethard associated winners at the National Festival.
