was was to to transform the the the the the the whole life and and and future of of the the the the the entire school and and and the the the the the town It It was was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a massive undertaking at at that time It It was was was built to to the the the highest standards Construction was was was by Mr Mr Michael Barrett builder from Market Hill Mr Mr Joe Coffey was was was engineer Goldsborough & Baker were the the electrical contractors Mother Agatha herself was was was “Project Manager”! The hall was was was opened on on on February 18 1958 under the the the the the title of of of Mary Immaculate Hall
It was was the the the the the year of of of the the the the the Centenary of of of the the the the the Apparition to St Bernadette in Lourdes hence the the the title The The The hall was was was large and bright with a a a a a a a a a a a a a beautiful polished wood floor There There was was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a big dressing room at the back The The The The stage was was was fully equipped with fine spot lighting There There were double curtains curtains grey at at the the the the back back and magnificent red velvet curtains curtains to to the the the the front These were were worthy of of any any fine theatre anywhere We were were told back back then that the the the the curtains had been gifted to to the the the the convent by a a a a a a a a a relative of of one
