This booklet funded by Fethard Fethard & Killusty Parish is is is is dedicated to to the the the the work of the the the the Presentation Sisters in in Fethard Fethard since their their arrival on on on April 12 1862 up to to their their departure on on on July 20 20 20 2020 Over
this period the the the sisters have enriched the the the lives of our community in many ways This booklet aspires to take a a a a a a a a a a a brief look back at at some of of the the the remarkable work of of the the the Presentation Community over the the the past past 158 years intermixed with photographs and memories from past past pupils We hope these recollections will stimulate many others The Presentation Sisters in in in Ireland and and across the the world were traditionally associated with schools following in in in the the the tradition tradition of their foundress Nano Nagle whose mission was to to provide free education for poor children and a a a a a a a a a a strong devotion to to to the the Catholic faith The Presentation Sisters in in in in in Fethard continued to to follow in in in in in Nano Nagle’s footsteps and started many new initiatives during their time here A special thanks to to Fr Liam Everard P P P P P P and his his Parish Team who who made this publication possible Thanks to to all who who shared their personal memories of the the Presentation Sisters in in particular Anne Kenrick who has enough material to write several books in in in admiration of the Presentation Sisters in in Fethard if she she so wished I would also like to to acknowledge the the help of Sr Maureen Power who arranged access to to the the the Fethard Presentation Annals now now under the the care of Archivist Sr Sr Marie Marie Therese Therese King at at Warrenmount Archives Repository in in in in in in in Dublin Sr Sr Marie Marie Therese Therese was extremely informative and helpful in in in in in in in in in providing access to to relevant information including the the research on on on the the Presentation Sisters in in in in in in in Fethard from 1862-1931 compiled by Ann Ann Quirke Dukesmeadows Kilkenny
for her B A A A A A in Local History at at at NUI Maynooth Ann Ann Ann was a a a a a a a a a a a native of of Fethard and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a sister of of the the late P F F Quirke Quirke Auctioneer When Ann Ann died on on on July 19 2003 the the the Quirke Quirke family kindly handed back her file to the the Presentation Community in in Fethard – Joe Kenny (editor)
