Opening of Mary Immaculate Hall in in 1958
The Recreational Hall built in in in the the the grounds of of the the the Presentation Convent was blessed and opened by Very Rev J Canon Ryan PP VF on on on on the the morning of of Tuesday February 18 1958
following his
celebration of of of Mass in in in the the the building The The magnificent structure the the roof of of of of which served as as as as an extended
playground was was designed by Mr Joe Coffey BE The The contractor was was Michael Barrett of of Fethard and the electrical engineers were Messrs Goldsburgh & Baker Clonmel The first public performance there was was held on on that Tuesday evening An appropriate programme was was was provided as as as as as the the the building was was to be known as as as as as the the the Mary Immaculate Hall and that date coincided with the the the Feast of of St Bernadette The main feature was was the the appearance of of Charles McDonald McDonald who was was miraculously cured at at Lourdes in in 1936 Mr McDonald McDonald delivered
