Lorraine Morrissey - Queen of the Land Competition 1998

Lorraine, daughter of John Joe and Margaret Morrissey from Tullow, Killusty is 22 years old. She has a Certificate in Agricultural Science, awarded from the Regional Technical College, Waterford. She is employed by Avonmore Waterford Group as a Trainee Manager in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. She is well known in the area as she previously worked in the Avonmore Waterford branches in Fethard, Killenaule, Clonmel, Ballingarry and Drangan.

Lorraine is an active member of South Tipp Macra na Feirme. Since joining Fethard club in 1994 Lorraine has held many positions on various committees both at Club and Executive level. Last year Lorraine was Competitions Secretary and she is currently Chairperson of the Development Committee. This involves working with both new and existing clubs helping them to increase their membership and to expand their activities.

Listing her hobbies and interests Lorraine includes Socialising as her number one! She also enjoys Football (a Liverpool fan), Travelling and Sport. Incidentally Lorraine was a member of Fethard Volleyball team who won the All-Ireland Ladies Macra Competition last year. We hope to retain this Title this year although the competition has reverted to mixed team status.

When asked as to where she would like to see herself in 10 years time Lorraine says:
hopefully married, enjoying a succesfull Managerial Career - with whoever will offer her the most money!

The Queen of the Land Competition takes place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on the 13th/14th /15th November.
All in Fethard Macra and in the South Executive wish Lorraine the Best of Luck in the Competition and we have no doubt but that she will do herself and the County proud.
