The AGM of Fethard Macra was held in the Tirry Centre on Friday 3rd July. The following committee was elected: Chairperson: Corina Morrissey, Vice Chairperson: Liam Hayes, Secretary: Croke, Assistant Secretary: Amanda Kelly, Treasurer: Patricia Morrissey, PRO: Emma Morrissey. Patrick O'Donovan was elected as the South Tipperary Executive Delegate and Liam Hayes as Young Farmers Delegate. We wish the committee all the best in the coming year and hope they continue on the good work.

This being the 200th Anniversary of the Rebellion of 1798, The Fethard Historical Society has organised a trip to Wexford on Saturday 25th July 1998. All are welcome.
Included in the ‘On The Trail of 1798’ trip will be:- The National 1798 Visitor’s Centre (Enniscorthy); Boolavogue – Fr. Murphy Centre.; Battle sites at The Harrow, Oulart Hill and Vinegar Hill. We will also visit Ferns, to see the castle and hear the story of Dermot MacMurraugh, the man who brought the Normans (the founders of Fethard Town) to Ireland in 1169. An expert local guide has been engaged to stay with the tour all day.
The luxury coach will leave Fethard (Town Hall) at 9am and return to Fethard at 10pm. Cost per person is £12 (includes coach, ’98 Centre, Fr. Murphy Centre, Ferns and Guides). Food Stops: Lunch – Bring packed lunch, tea/coffee will be available at picnic place. Dinner – 6.00 p.m. Enniscorthy, many restaurants to choose from.
