South Tipp Today 23rd March 1997

LIKE the under-nourished Oliver Twist, when the curtain went down on 'Grease' at the Abymill Theatre earlier in the year, audiences were asking for more. Well now there is (but with a slight twist). Producer Marian Gilpin and the Transition Year students of the Presentation/Patrician Secondary School are regrouping for 'Thank you for the Music', a musical journey through the 50s, 60s and 70s featuring songs from Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Bee Gees, Abba, The Troggs, Elvis and many more. The show will take place on May 2nd, 4th and 5th - Friday, Sunday and Monday at 8 pm in the Abymill Theatre. Booking through the school at 052-31206.

"O'Shea's Quiz Final"
For over twelve years, Pat O'Shea has been asking the questions in his Annual Knockout Quiz and this year he received over 28 entries. The final took place last Thursday night, the 17th. A large crowd gathered to watch 'The Michelle Rocca Fan Club' take the top prize (Pat O'Donnell, Jack and Marie Mockler) in an exciting close contest with 'Jigs and Reels' (John Ryan, Rosemary and Denis Donovvan Third place went to 'The Over The Hill Gang' (Michael and Tom McCormack & Davy Morrissey). Winners of the 'Plate' final were the 'Apprentice Sod Busters' (an all girl team).
Top marks to Pat and Merchie for keeping this tradition alive and may they continue to test the knowledge of the people of Fethard & district for many years to come.
